Kettles Yard Open
2008
Selected by Gill Hedley and Simon Wallis

Naismith’s is a multidisciplinary practice, she uses photography, drawing, video and site specific installations alongside other research tools and forms of representation to create bodies of work around particular subjects, which may include artworks as well as conference papers. The photographs and installation presented here are part of an ongoing research project looking at the tools, skills and processes of manufacturing and hand labour. In her installation she explores the distinctions between white and blue collar work, and the the relationship between hand, eye, brain, body and machine. Her photographs play with scale to create ambiguous portraits of familiar objects.
